Trump may slap sanction over Russia natgas pipeline

U.S. President Donald Trump said on Wednesday he is considering impose sanctions to curb a pipeline project which will increase natural gas flows from Russia to Germany. Speaking during a joint press conference with Polish President Andrzej Duda in Washington, Trump said, ” Well, we’re looking at it. People have a right to do what they want to do. I think it’s something that I’ve been looking at and I’ve been thinking about and I’m the one that brought up the pipeline problem.” Warning Germany against Russia, trump told reporters, “We’re protecting Germany from Russia and Russia is getting billions and billions of dollars from Germany.” He said such a pipeline project “really makes Germany a hostage of Russia if things ever happen that were bad.” Nord Stream 2, a 1,225-km pipeline project will enable gas flow from Russia through the Baltic Sea to Germany and double the capacity of the existing Nord Stream pipeline, according to BBC reports.
