White House’s top economic adviser said Thursday that President Donald Trump could take further action against China if President Xi Jinping doesn’t attend a meeting at the G20 summit, adding that “The overall economic burden will hurt China more than it hurts us.” “President Trump has indicated his strong desire for a meeting, but the meeting is not yet arranged formally,” Larry Kudlow said. “He’s also indicated that if the meeting doesn’t come to pass, there may be consequences.” On Monday Trump told CNBC, “We are expected to meet. If we do, that’s fine and if we don’t, that’s fine.” The trade battle between China and the U.S. has increased after the latter one increased tariffs and ban Huawei technology.
